The next night at dinner Dallas told Sareh he had an anniversary gift for her, but he needed some collateral, since she didn't have a gift for him. After some discussion, I gave him the promise ring he'd given me, feeling very suspicious, Sareh remembers. Dallas kept her guessing his intentions until the next morning, when he handed her back the Hawaiian grass pouch he'd put the promise ring in. Sareh immediately felt that the ring was different -- when she pulled it out, she found the very engagement ring she'd had her eye on!
