After scrapping their original plans for a traditional wedding in Washington, Sareh Potts and Dallas Hunt headed to Hawaii for an intimate wedding celebration with just 19 guests. The Bride Sareh Potts, 25, photographer The Groom Dallas Hunt, 24, sales representative The Date October 1 Three years after they first met, Sareh and Dallas planned an anniversary trip to Maui where, unbeknownst to Sareh, Dallas planned to propose. He originally planned to propose to her on a secluded beach at sunset -- unfortunately, the beach proved a little too secluded! By the time the two found it, the sun was down. The next night at dinner Dallas told Sareh he had an anniversary gift for her, but he needed some collateral, since she didn't have a gift for him. After some discussion, I gave him the promise ring he'd given me, feeling very suspicious, Sareh remembers. Dallas kept her guessing his intentions until the next morning, when he handed her back the Hawaiian grass pouch he'd put the promise ring in. Sareh immediately felt that the ring was different -- when she pulled it out, she found the very engagement ring she'd had her eye on!

Sareh and Dallas' guests enjoyed an informal reception dinner at Spices restaurant, just a short walk from the cottage. The dinner unfolded in the restaurant's outdoor waterfall lanai, an intimate space with a koi pond, lush greenery, and tiki torches. Pineapples, orchid petals, and glowing votive candles topped off the tables, adding to the evening’s ambience.
Sareh went traditional, with a bouquet of white mini call lilies. Her bridesmaids, on the other hand, wore white rose ankle haku leis and scattered baby's breath as they walked down the aisle.
The Hair
Sareh and Dallas selected a palette of blues to complement the wedding's oceanside setting. Blue is such a peaceful color, Sareh comments. We also incorporated a lot of white to keep everything clean and a little modern. A wave motif was used on the invites and favors, which Sareh handmade herself. We used a really island-y but elegant font to show the casual but elegant theme we wanted to have, she says. For the first six months of our engagement we had been planning on having a big, formal wedding in Washington -- these definitely said, 'change of plans!'
Sareh and Dallas cut a two-tier cake frosted with blue Tahitian vanilla frosting that was decorated with white swirls and a border of blue pearls. The top tier featured chocolate fudge cake with banana crème filling, while the bottom tier was fittingly a passion fruit cake with guava puree filling. Dallas created the monogram cake topper that topped off the confection.
The Couple
Sareh and Dallas wed in a small, outdoor ceremony just before sunset at the Mywaii Cottage. Each guest was greeted with an orchid lei as they arrived. The ceremony took place in the back yard, beside the ocean, with palm trees framing the altar. A winding path of flower petals led the way.
The Reception Decor
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dallas' parents presented Sareh with a four-strand white pikake lei, and Sareh's parents gave Dallas a maile lei with pikake as a symbol of accepting each into their families.
