Laura & Troy: A Colorful Wedding in Charleston, WV

The ornate style of the bride-to-be's uniquely embellished gown acted as a blueprint for Laura and Troy's wedding decor. The only problem? Keeping that gown a secret from the groom! The Bride Laura McClure, 26, a nurse practitioner The Groom Troy Adams, 27, an airline pilot The Date May 8 Laura and Troy met one summer on Myrtle Beach in South Carolina while both were on vacation. After spending a sun-filled week together, they parted -- she to begin college at Radford University in Virginia and he to start his second year at Purdue in Indiana. But the pair couldn't forget about each other, and they managed to keep in touch and remain friends for five years -- returning to the same South Carolina resort each summer to get reacquainted. Finally, their friendship turned to romance and after a few years of dating, it was time to make it permanent. Troy drew up plans for a romantic proposal. He headed to a do-it-yourself pottery store and painted a large plate, writing, Will you marry me? in cursive in the center. Two weeks later, Troy brought Laura to Louisville, Kentucky, for a dinner in the revolving restaurant on the 25th floor of the Galt House Hotel. After enjoying her meal and the panoramic views of the Ohio River, Laura looked down to see the message revealed on her plate -- Troy had brought it to the restaurant the week before -- then looked up to see Troy down on one knee. She just kept staring at the ring saying, 'Is this mine?' Troy remembers. Luckily, she eventually got out a 'yes!'
