The Theme
Mary and Dean chose The Art of Family as the theme for their wedding, combining the museum setting with an appreciation for the contributions of their families. On easels throughout the reception hall were paintings of different family members, from a Warhol-inspired picture of Dean's parents on their wedding day to finger paintings that Mary's nephews created of she and Dean. After guests found their seats at tables named for artists (marked with postcards of each artist's most famous work), a pair of classically-trained opera singers serenaded members of the couple’s families. The most touching moment was when they sang 'Annie's Song' for my mother, Anne, Mary says. It was a complete surprise to her -- she burst into tears!
