The Reception
According to Mary, the high point of the reception was the space itself, which was designed by internationally renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. The space is literally flanked by a pair of gigantic wings, that, when open, jut out over Lake Michigan, she explains. Prior to the dinner hour, Dean and I were invited to escort our guests outside of the museum and 'flap' the museum’s enormous wings. Centerpieces of white peonies, gladiolas, hydrangea, and flowering branches made sure the scenery indoors was almost as majestic as the views outside.
