The Gown

After the Vietnamese wedding customs, Jyoti changed into an intricately bejeweled ivory lengha -- a blouse, long flowing skirt, and embroidered cloth that is worn as a wrap. For Indian brides, Jyoti says, the typical color is red. But I chose a white lengha to represent my dual American and Indian heritage. Jyoti purchased her authentic Indian wedding garb at an Indian bridal boutique in Vancouver, Canada.
