The Ceremony
The day began with an afternoon ceremony in Monet's Place at Hudson Gardens in Littleton. The look was inspired by Erin’s favorite flower, sunflowers, which were laid along the ground to form the aisle. I didn't want the traditional brown/orange/red color scheme that so many fall weddings use, Erin explains. My florist's brilliant ideas led me to the sunflower yellow/bright green/plum color scheme that enveloped our ceremony. Erin and Joe wrote the ceremony from scratch, with help from the father of the groom, who officiated. To a traditional Christian ceremony they added prayers read by each of their mothers, a reading from The Velveteen Rabbit, and elements of a traditional Scottish ceremony where Erin’s father welcomed Joe into their family.
