Amy and Josh were married in an outdoorsy but sophisticated wedding at The Pine Knob Mansion and Carriage House -- a setting they chose for its rustic beauty. They first met “up north” in Ludington over a long summer weekend, and the couple made frequent trips together to Josh’s family’s cabin in Grand Marais in the years that followed. It was on one of those trips to Grand Marais that Josh surprised Amy with a proposal after three years of dating. As Amy recalls, they went for a morning walk on the beach with their two dogs, Cash and Josie, and she spotted a particularly arresting rock along the Lake Superior shoreline. When she turned around to show it to him, Josh said, “What do you think about this rock?” He then pointed to a rock with a hole worn out of it, just the right size to hold the sparkling engagement ring he was offering to her.
