Chicago residents Aimee Danielson and Matt Carnahan count a day of apple picking in northern Illinois as a favorite moment in their courtship. Two years later they returned to the same orchard, and Aimee set out to find the best apples by scaling a tree. It turns out that Matt had the perfect one in his hand, and it had a diamond ring around its stem. An orchard theme was an obvious choice for their autumn wedding celebration in Virginia. Afterward, guests headed inside for an orchard-theme reception -- an obvious choice after Matt's orchard proposal. Live trees adorned with twinkling lights surrounded tables set with brown linens and copper chargers. The tables themselves were named for apple varieties such as Fuji and Golden Delicious. Centerpieces featured curly willow, ornamental grasses, and apple branches; bushels of apples overflowed on the banquet and place card tables.
