A Rustic Winter Wedding at The Engine Room in Monroe, Georgia

Katherine Larsh (24 and a nursing student) and Erik Bassler (32 and a sergeant for the Rome Fire Department) met at Camp All-American during the summer of 2013. “He was the good looking soccer coach and I was a CORE leader for our 1st and 2nd grade camp,” Katherine says. He really took my breath away with one of his first lines. ‘You know you have a bunch of freckles on the back of your legs?’ To which I replied, ‘Thank you Captain Obvious.’ Clearly we were a match made in Heaven, right?”The fun-loving couple chose to get married at The Engine Room in Monroe, Georgia, with (Once Like a Spark) Photography capturing beautiful and romantic images of their day. “The moment we walked into the room we knew this was where we were meant to have our views,” Katherine says. “We were blown away by the wood floors and the green and white paint that covered the walls. The whole room was so beautiful without even trying and we loved the simplicity of that.”A sweet moment also came at the end of the night when the couple and their guests released lanterns into the sky, asking them to make prayers for their future as a couple. “We left in a fire truck, which was a really sweet moment because we got to honor Erik and his career,” Katherine says. “The next morning, we invited all of our guests to a breakfast so we could spend some more time with them. It ended up being mainly family, but it was so important to spend time with those that were so supportive of us as a couple.”
