Whalehead Club in Historic Corolla Venue

As for the decision to host the wedding at the Whalehead Club, while the property itself is absolutely breathtaking, the love story of the house's original owners, Edward and Marie-Louise Knight resonated with Tim and Sandra. Edward, like Tim, was a 48 year-old widower and father of two, when he married Marie-Louise Lebel Bonat in 1922. Marie-Louise earned a reputation as a strong-willed woman, who barred from joining the Currituck County hunting club because of her gender, purchased a rundown lodge, tore it down and built the Whalehead Club in it's place, the most opulent and exclusive hunting lodge in the region. Sandra was immediately drawn to Marie-Louise who defied the societal conventions of her time.
