Vibrant Red Hues Set Apart This Wedding at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York
Isha and Adam's vibrant red-hued wedding at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York, was equal parts traditional and glam, and all-around stunning. For the past year, the couple has been through "a roller coaster of uncertainty with COVID-19 and the possibility of moving our wedding date. I never really got the chance to meticulously plan every detail of the wedding since colors, style, theme became the least of our worries. The only thing Adam and I were certain about was a Hindu religious ceremony followed by an unforgettable reception. Our ideas and plans were constantly changing in accordance with state restrictions. Fortunately for us, the second we laid our eyes on the venue we knew half our job of planning a beautiful wedding was already taken care of." With the venue set as Oheka Castle, all the minutiae of the couple's wedding seamlessly fell into place and they achieved their Hindu wedding ceremony followed by an epic reception just like they'd envisioned.
The couple's wedding ceremony began with a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on the garden grounds of Oheka Castle. "The key element of a Hindu ceremony is the mandap, which consists of a 4-pillar structure under which the couple marks the auspicious start of their married life," explains Isha. "It is considered to be a sacred space that the couple shares with their parents as they take their vows. We picked a stunning white-pillar mandap with crystals and added floral arrangements on all four sides with red garlands draping down in the back. We included white-and-gold seats for us and our parents that paired perfectly with the color scheme. What was even more special than the mandap was the flower canopy that my brothers held as I walked down the aisle. The canopy was something my father-in-law made himself while my mother-in-law and I decorated it together with flowers. It was moments like those that created some of my most cherished memories."
Following the traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, Isha and Adam celebrated with a glam reception. Looking back on the reception, Isha explains that one moment of the big day she was especially excited about was being introduced as a couple at the reception for the very first time. "It sounds so cheesy to say but the only moment I was waiting for that entire day was being announced as Mr. and Mrs. Kocab for the first time as we entered the reception," says Isha. "When we got engaged I could not have been more thrilled to start planning the wedding but when the process started we realized how much it takes to make this vision you have of a beautiful wedding come to life. I was so lucky to have found some amazing vendors who helped guide me through the whole process because I was that clueless bride who just wanted to get married without actually planning the wedding. So you can imagine my excitement when we walked out hand in hand as husband and wife. I felt like all the pre-wedding jitters and nervousness of the wedding planning simply vanished!"
