The Reception
Motown and funk tunes kept everyone moving. I am a Detroit girl, and I grew up on the Temptations and the Four Tops, says Rachel. Some cousins got the hora going, one of the couple's favorite events of the day. I loved the look on my mother's face when the group lifted her up on a chair, laughs the bride. The mood was jubilant, but there was a touch of sadness. Michael's grandmother had passed away the Thursday before the wedding. This weekend was a difficult one for Michael's family, acknowledges Rachel. One of the most significant things about our wedding day was that Michael's family still made it there to celebrate with us. As the evening drew to a close, it was time for the bride to toss her bouquet, an event that got her into a bit of trouble. I threw it directly to a friend who was getting married the next weekend, admits Rachel, who took some good-natured gibing from the rest of the single women.
