They say opposites attract, and Susan Laus and Christopher (Chris) Mulvaney would have to agree. Susan and Chris both grew up in Middletown, attended the same grammar school, and, as they discovered years later, had even gone to the same birthday party when they were seven years old. The two didn’t really meet, however, until introduced by a mutual friend when Susan was in college. But when she called him the next week (a conversation that lasted four hours!), Susan and Chris had a hint that they may have just met the perfect match. “As we got to know each other better, we realized we’re much more alike then we originally thought,” Susan says. On a trip to Myrtle Beach after four years of dating, Chris surprised Susan with a proposal that left her speechless. “He slipped the ring on my finger,” Susan says, “and somehow I managed to answer yes!” The pair married 16 months later in a romantic fall wedding.
