The story of how Marc and Paige met and fell in love starts with a snowboard. Marc hadn't seen his friend Shawn in nearly six months but one day she knocked on his door. Shawn was looking for a snowboard for her husband and wanted my advice on what to get, says Marc. She also was careful to mention that her sister Paige was single. Would Marc be interested in meeting her? The next night, Paige and I went out on a date, and we've been together ever since, says Marc. THE BRIDE Paige Viloria, a graduate student THE GROOM Marc Lindblad, a web development manager THE DATE August 11 As a couple, Paige and Marc would go on many snowboarding dates. Two years later, Marc thought Mammoth Lakes would be the perfect place to pop the question. I was going to have Paige tighten my boot string with the ring attached to it when we reached the top of the mountain, describes Marc. Unfortunately, due to extreme weather conditions, all the lifts were closed on the last day of their mountain getaway. So on their way home, Marc stopped his truck, telling Paige that he needed to check something. I walked around, opened up her door, knelt down on one knee and proposed, says Marc. At the reception, the color yellow helped set the tone for a lively, beautifully turned-out evening. The centerpieces combined cut-up lemons and limes with white hydrangea and yellow roses in tall glass vases; the lemon-flavored wedding cake was heaped with yellow rose petals; yellow gingham ribbon accented the place cards... Yellow is my favorite color, says the bride. It's so happy and cheerful. So too was the energy suffusing the celebration -- it didn't die down till midnight.
But on their wedding day, Mother Nature was exceptionally kind to them. Paige and Marc's ceremony, held at the peak of a golden August day, took place outdoors, on the grounds of a restored 32-acre ranch in the Cleveland National Forest. Gentle reggae music greeted guests as they were being seated. You could see them sipping lemonade from big glass jars or cooling themselves with programs designed to look like old-fashioned church fans. A friend played guitar and sang John Denver's Annie's Song and later, after Paige and Marc exchanged personally written vows, the newlyweds recessed to James Brown's I Feel Good.
