This Ohio Barn Wedding Was Filled With Personal Touches
Thirty-one-year-olds Lauren and Dylan took a DIY approach for their rustic-meets-vintage wedding. “We wanted everything to be a representation of our personalities and to feel like our own,” Lauren says. “All of the décor was from our home or an antique we’ve found over the years.” The pair took on as many projects as they could, with Lauren designing nearly all of the stationery herself. “I hand-made paper flowers and hand-lettered just about everything I could get my hands on,” Lauren says. “We wanted to provide as many creative personal touches as possible.”
Lauren’s gals shared one common element in the design of their bridesmaids dresses: sequins. “Every dress was unique, so nobody looked the same wearing them,” Lauren says. Guests found their tables, each named for a flower in Lauren’s bouquet, with the help of hand-lettered tags pulled from a set of recycled French doors found in the couple’s neighborhood. Overflowing greenery, neutral garden roses and dark blue velvet marked Lauren and Dylan’s table at the head of the reception. To honor Dylan’s love of cycling, the coupled worked with their florist to create displays of bicycle tires draped in olive branches and delphinium.
Lauren and Dylan welcomed their guests to Warmick Farm, which also hosts a historic antique market. The couple added romantic touches, including navy blue taper candles and hanging greenery installations, to the rustic venue for a more bohemian vibe. “We were lucky to have a lot of raw materials to work with,” Lauren says. Lauren also hand-illustrated the flowers on the table numbers, each resembling a different bloom she carried, from zinnias to dahlias.
