Not Your Average Farmhouse Wedding
Ann Arbor residents, chefs and owners of Spencer restaurant Abby Olitzky (31) and Steve Hall (31) kept things as close to home as possible for their wedding day. “We focused on the things that matter most,” Abby says. “We plan special events, so we knew we could handle it.” Catering was a breeze thanks to their culinary skills, and finding a location was equally as simple: Both the ceremony and reception venues were the property of dear friends. “I let my talented friends do what they do best,” Abby says.
Foodies that they are, Abby and Steve designed the entirety of the menu, from the all-natural wine selection and Nordic snack bar to the homemade apricot chamomile jam and candied lemons. Using local blooms was important to Abby, who also requested multiuse, edible flowers like raspberry and chamomile be present in the day’s arrangements. Other blooms, including garden roses, butterfly ranunculus and hibiscus topped tables.
Instead of a first look, Steve led guests to the ceremony as they played instruments, and kept his back to Abby, who walked at the end of the parade.
