Since Cali and John come from different religious backgrounds and viewpoints, they decided a civil ceremony was perfect for their intimate nuptials. “It was important for us to be secular, so as not to offend either side of the family,” Cali says. “We both feel strongly that we are truly equal in our relationship, and we wanted to ensure our vows represented that.”
