Epic Signature Cocktails and Chic Decor Wowed at This Tampa Wedding at The Current Hotel
Miguel Fuller, radio personality and host of Miguel and Holly on I Heart Radio's Hits 961, and Abe Gadikian, a small business owner, celebrated their marriage with a chic, modern wedding at The Current Hotel in Tampa, Florida. A black, white and silver color palette anchored the celebration which started with a waterfront ceremony and concluded with a reception packed with delicious cocktails and tasty desserts.
"We wanted something with class and sophistication," says Miguel. "Living in Florida, especially the Tampa Bay area, you don't get a lot of events to truly dress up and show up...because it's so hot! So we wanted to have it at a time of year (January!) when we actually had cool weather. To go along with the time of year, we wanted a very natural color palette of black, white, gold and some green. We wanted our wedding to be simple and elegant. We wanted most of our money to go to the party and celebration and not spend a lot on decorations."
And the couple's wedding was certainly a celebration for the books! Instead of a flower girl, the couple had a friend, decked out in body jewels, serve as their flower man during the ceremony processional. "We had a roommate/co-worker of ours be the flower man since it was a no-kid wedding," recalls Miguel. "He hit it out of the park! As he came down the aisle with a wagon of booze and flowers, he ripped off his shirt, had our initials glittered on his chest and sashayed down the aisle to Fergie's 'London Bridge.' It literally had everyone at the ceremony in stitches. It was the perfect ice breaker to the ceremony before we walked down the aisle." And the laughs didn't end there—at the reception, the couple's DJ made "an announcement that we didn't have enough photos with everyone so we had to run around to each table, in the length of a song, and take photos with everyone. That got everyone up and laughing and trying to get into the pictures. We found that idea on TikTok!"
Beyond the festive nature of the wedding, Miguel and Abe also loved that their wedding was meaningfully focused on celebrating family. They share how they loves "seeing our families come together. As an interracial couple from two different parts of the country, you never know how your families will mesh. It was so heartwarming to see our family members come together and get to know each other." Miguel recalls one especially meaningful moment with Abe's family: "My husband's mom comes from a Polish background so his mom and aunt serenaded us during the reception with the 'Oczepiny.' It's the 'unveiling of the bride.' They had to change some of the words since it's two men. It was very cute!"
Looking back on their modern black-and-white wedding day in Tampa, Florida, Miguel and Abe encourage other currently engaged to-be-weds to "take your time. Do NOT feel bad about pushing your wedding day a year or two out. Take all the time in the world. Also, soak it all up. I got annoyed with how many people told me to 'SOAK IT UP' day of and be in the moment BUT because so many people did tell me, there were several moments throughout the day where I would just grab his hand and just have us look around at our families and friends. Also, if you are able to, hire a wedding planner. We had ZERO clue what we were doing and how to do it. If it weren't for our wedding planner John, we would not have been able to pull off such an amazing day."
