Laura and David's relaxed celebration was filled with personal touches and environmentally friendly details. The Bride Laura Kreeger, 27 The Groom David Neil, 28 The Date June 26 Like most engaged couples, Laura and David put quite a bit of thought into their wedding plans. But the socially and environmentally conscious couple (she’s director of Civic Blueprint, a not-for-profit organization; he’s director of special projects at a community development bank) also chose to highlight their social values as much as possible. The result? A relaxed celebration filled with memorable personal touches.

The Ceremony
Relaxed bride Laura let her nine bridesmaids choose their own dresses. “I never thought I’d be surrounded by pink, but it looked great on all of them!” she says.
The Centerpieces
The Chicago couple decided to marry at a historic mansion near Laura’s hometown. “The Wainwright House offered an incredible location, in addition to a festive, low-key theme that matched our style,” says Laura.
The Bridesmaid Bouquets
In keeping with their laid-back theme, the couple chose whimsical cupcakes in lieu of a traditional wedding cake.
Laura’s brother is a potter, and he created the flowerpots for the guest tables and the large planters for the lawn.
Forgetting the moves they’d learned in dance class, the couple decided to wing their first dance to Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is.”
The Couple
The ceremony was held outdoors, and the couple exchanged vows beneath a huppah created from an antique quilt.
