Laid Back Woodsy Wedding at Camp Wokanda
Rachel Knox (22 and an executive assistant) and Ethan Bliese (24 and a graphic designer) got engaged after a hike in Matthiessen State Park, so it was only natural that they marry surrounded by 300 acres of woodland. “We’re laid-back people who love the outdoors, and we wanted our wedding day to be the same,” Rachel says. At Camp Wokanda, they kept things simple. An ice-filled canoe held beer and wine, a food truck served nachos and friends made many of the desserts. Candles, wooden textures and plenty of greenery completed the warm, rustic look.
Rachel carried waxflower, craspedia, feverfew, chocolate lace flowers, spray roses and eucalyptus.
The couple set tables with eco-friendly dinnerware made out of palm leaves. “We wanted to reduce waste as well as play into the natural aesthetic,” Rachel says. Smilax centerpieces created a wild, raw look. Friends and family baked cookies, which Rachel and Ethan’s planner laid out in drawers of a wood desk. Glazed doughnuts from Denny’s were a must. The newlyweds danced to “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector.
