A Greenery-Filled and Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago, Illinois

Oscar and Rob's wedding was “a blend of modernity and antiquity,” Rob says. On the one hand, they celebrated in Architectural Artifacts, Inc., a converted warehouse and rare antique shop filled with archeological relics, and on the other, they “ditched” many conventional wedding customs, especially those typical of a standard ceremony. Oscar’s sister sang “Ave Maria” while the 20-person wedding party and the grooms walked down the aisle, their pastor gave a simple speech, two attendants performed “You’re the Reason” by Calum Scott and all their friends read passages from The Little Prince, Rob’s favorite book

.“The venue had so many earthy tones and eccentricities,” Rob says. “We wanted to complement it with a clean design, lots of lighting and muted colors.” All of the tables were named after places or things that were important to the pair, including cities, ice cream flavors and nicknames. The guys changed into blue, green and red bow ties for the dinner and dance party because red has always played a part in their relationship. Rob’s bright red sneakers were what broke the ice when they met at a bar, and on their wedding day, the bottom of his shoes were also colored in their signature shade. After dinner, the newlyweds cut into their cake with custom gold knives and later toasted their guests with a bourbon milk shot and cookie pairing. A dessert table was also up for grabs.
