Dawn and John met through a mutual friend who had often told Dawn the two would probably have a lot in common, though she wasn’t exactly sure what. “She knew my job involved computers or software or something like that,” Dawn remembers, and she thought John did something similar. Since we didn’t have a Santa Cruz office, I’d go ahead and open it.” A year and another cross-country move later, John asked Dawn to marry him while on one of their nightly walks. Dawn remembers it as “simple, romantic, a pretty good reflection of how things were between us from the very beginning,” she says.
