Clay Bird Cake Topper

When Emily and John started dating, they would often visit a small cafe called True Grounds in Somerville, Mass., each time sitting under a painting of two birds named Shakes and the Prettiest One. “The paintings suited us well because John is a lanky, shaky six-and-a-half feet and truly resembled the bird Shakes,” says Emily. So as a finishing touch for their wedding cake, the couple topped the confection with two little clay birds on spindly legs dressed in wedding attire.
