Adirondack chairs and conch shells served as the perfect accents for Beth and Brian's casual wedding on the Cape. The Bride Beth Murphy, 29, account executive The Groom Brian Rigert, 29, associate director The Date Class of ’99 Boston College alums Elizabeth (Beth) Murphy and Brian Rigert knew of each other from school but had never really spoken. It wasn’t until a chance meeting at a bar in New York that they actually had their first real conversation -- and discovered how much they had in common. At the end of the night, Brian gave Beth his phone number, but she was too shy to call. “Luckily, New York is a smaller town than you think,” Beth says, and they ran into each other again soon after. This time Beth gave Brian her number so he could call, and naturally he did. Two years later, the couple was visiting Beth’s parents’ home on Cape Cod, where she had spent her summers growing up. They took a walk along the beach and ended up on a jetty, where Brian was suddenly on one knee. Brian said he wanted to propose on the Cape because he knew how much Beth’s family meant to her -- a sentiment that they carried through to their wedding the following fall.
