Danielle and Sam met through mutual friends at Duke University Hospital where they both worked. It seemed too good to be true -- and it was! Sam had to leave the day after their first date for a three-month rotation almost four hours away. Then, after that, he was sent to Boston for a one-year stint! But Sam was so smitten with Danielle after that single date that he continued to call her every night, and the couple stayed together despite the long distance. The Bride Danielle Lemuth, 31, radiology fellow The Groom Sam Wellman, 36, orthopedic surgeon The Date November 22 After dating for two-and-a-half years—and finally moving back to the same city—Sam proposed to Danielle on the front porch of her house while the two were relaxing with some wine. It was the perfect, mellow moment after more than two years of hectic schedules!

The couple exchanged vows under a 270-year-old oak tree. The former pastor of Danielle’s childhood church (a family friend) officiated.
The couple’s monogram decorated the middle tier of the fondant cake. Fresh cymbidium orchids above and below added height to the display.
Guests enjoyed seasonal berries, a nod to the farm setting, served in Belgian raspberry beer.
No blending in with the crowd here! Danielle’s sister and best friend carried Vanda orchids to go with their bright J.Crew dresses.
Blue Floral Invitations
With two months to plan the wedding (Danielle didn’t want to drag it out!), the bride, her mom and her planner got to work creating a country wedding at the family’s historic farmhouse.
The couple’s band, Sprung, played everything from ’80s hits and rock ballads to funk and blues songs.
Roses, berries and leaves flowed from hollowed-out tree trunks made to look like vases. Votives helped make the small arrangements appear larger.
Vanda orchids hung from oak branches during the ceremony, while rose petals created a “carpet” for the outdoor aisle.
