An Elegant Summer Wedding at Treasury on the Plaza in St. Augustine, Florida
Kellie Bushong (32 and registered nurse) and Ryan Combs (33 and sales representative) planned a destination wedding in St. Augustine, Florida, where Ryan had popped the question 11 months earlier. The couple, who live 30 minutes away in Ponte Vedra Beach, wanted a wedding that would make for a memorable celebration. “We wanted to share the special city with all our family and friends, and the Treasury on the Plaza was the perfect venue,” Kellie says. “We wanted a venue that was unique, as well as classy and elegant, and the Treasury met all these characteristics.” The couple decked out the stately venue in a cheery yet elegant color scheme of coral, navy and gold for their summer nuptials. “We loved that the bank was established in the early 1900s, and our favorite part was that the old vault was transformed into such a stunning bar,” Kellie says. “We felt there was additional special meaning, as the vault door had a plaque on it stating that it was manufactured in Canton, Ohio, where I was born.” Kellie and Ryan’s wedding took inspiration from their engagement, with Casa Monice Hotel’s 95 Cordova Restaurant catering the reception. “We ate dinner at the restaurant that night,” Kellie says of their celebratory engagement dinner. Wedding highlights include a killer cocktail hour with a jazz trio, decadent food stations (think oysters and a shrimp-dispensing ice sculpture), along with an eight-piece band that kept the party going. “An impromptu moment was when Ryan and I were on stage and he started serenading me with the song ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,’ ” Kellie says. —Marissa Hermanson
