An Elegant Preppy-Meets-Rustic Wedding at a Private Home in Cheboygan, Michigan
Having spent summer and winter vacations on Mullett Lake in Cheboygan, Michigan, growing up, Caitlin Pulte (26 and a buyer) knew it would be the perfect spot for her and Kevin Doyle (27 and an MBA student) to tie the knot. Filled with happy memories and boasting breathtaking views, Caitlin’s family's lake home offered the perfect backdrop for the cheerful summer affair. The couple enlisted the help of the wedding pros at A Day in May Event Planning and Design to pull off an unforgettable blowout that reflected their fun-loving personalities. Together they dreamed up a preppy-meets-rustic theme, a nod to Caitlin’s southern Florida roots and the wedding’s northern locale. “The day would never had come together and been executed as well without them,” Caitlin says. “They took all the stress off the day of the wedding—and before—and I never had to worry because I knew they were taking care of everything.” After a traditional Catholic ceremony at Cross in the Woods National Shrine in Indian River, Michigan, the couple whisked guests off to the lake home for a night of celebrating. The scenery was the star of the show, with cocktail hour and the reception taking place on the expansive sloping lawn. Field of Flowers Farm infused the waterfront tent with energy and life, adding varied arrangements of vibrant pink, fuchsia, green and ivory blooms to the tables, while elements like birch bark vases, a natural wood bar, French country chairs, farm tables and Swiss-dot linens exuded rustic charm. Crow’s Nest Restaurant and Catering blew guests away with a mouthwatering menu packed with inspired eats, while Bella e Dolce capped off the meal with an over-the-top assortment of homemade sweets, including miniatures of the couple’s rainbow sprinkle, mint chocolate chip wedding cake. Dancing went on late into the night with the live band Ground Control and 2Bays DJs pumping out plenty of upbeat music, which got guests in the mood to party.
