An Elegant Hindu Wedding at Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson in New Jersey
Since Reena Patel (33 and in finance) and Varun Krovi (32 and in government) met through friends in New York City, they put the skyline front and center at their spring wedding. The views from their riverfront venue guaranteed a wow factor for both the Hindu ceremony and black-tie reception. “We wanted a modern and elegant look,” Reena says. Blush, apricot and ivory tones carried through the design, from the couple’s outfits to the stationery and the flowers on the vanilla-strawberry cake. Hydrangeas, eucalyptus, roses and curly willow wrapped the birch mandap. Reena wore a raw silk lehenga with a dupatta pinned to her hair for the ceremony, and Varun sported a sherwani and peach turban. At the reception, roses, lisianthus, hydrangeas and dusty miller topped glass trumpet vases, while olive branches were tucked into napkins. Reena and Varun served Hyderabad chicken, a nod to the Indian city where the groom grew up, and salmon in Goan curry. The couple danced to “I’ll Keep You Safe” by Sleeping At Last.
