Allison and Breck first met when she attended his birthday party one year with a mutual friend. Breck admits being attracted to Allison when he saw her that night, but the two didn't have a chance to really talk. A week later, Allison had a cocktail party and invited Breck to make up for crashing his birthday party. They chatted throughout the evening, and before he left, Breck asked Allison out on a first date. After arriving, they went to a restaurant for the party. Allison expected to see everyone waiting for them at dinner; however, they ended up sitting alone at a table set for ten. Breck handed her a birthday card to sign while they waited, and Allison soon realized the card was for her. Breck proposed right then and the waiters, who were in on the setup, moved them to a private table with champagne.
