Most grooms stress about asking the father of the bride’s approval, but Jonathan had no such worries. When he first met Alissa she, her father, and Jonathan were on the same medical mission trip to Ecuador. “On the plane ride there, I sat next to Dr. Fordice, and within 15 minutes, we were talking like old friends,” Jonathan says. It wasn’t until a long bus ride the next day that Jonathan got to know Alissa. “I left Ecuador wondering if she was ‘the one,’” he remembers. Two years later, on a vacation in New York City, the couple was ice-skating in Central Park when Jonathan dropped to one knee and proposed. A passing skate referee announced: “Be careful everyone…The ice is melting around these two; they just got engaged!”
