A Vintage-Inspired Summer Wedding at the Bayfront Marin House in St. Augustine, Florida

Hilary (25 and a teacher) and Albaro Arana (30 and a law officer) planned an intimate garden wedding at the Bayfront Marin House in St. Augustine, Fla. Inspired by the city’s historic district, the pair looked to shades of pastel blue, blush and lavender to infuse their early summer celebration with old world charm.

St. Augustine had been a favorite vacation spot for Hilary growing up, so saying “I do” in the seaside town was an obvious choice. The Bayfront Marin House’s gardens, with its flowers in full bloom, provided a quaint setting for the ceremony. A bright floral garland framed Hilary and Albaro as they exchanged vows in the garden’s romantic gazebo as a gentle breeze blew in over the Matanzas Bay. “The processional was a violin cover of Eric Clapton’s ‘Wonderful Tonight,’ which was a piece my dad used to play on the guitar when I was growing up, making it extra special to me,” says Hilary.

A reception at followed at a restaurant on Vilano Beach, offering guests beautiful views of the ocean as they dined, danced and socialized. Continuing the vintage-inspired theme, antique accents, pastel linens and classic florals were woven throughout, with taper candles in brass candlesticks casting a warm, romantic glow over the room.

A tip for the taking from Hilary: “My advice is to be honest and open about everything but if you get mad and need to cool off just think, ‘Is this something I'll still be mad about tomorrow? Or next week?’ If the answer is no, then it's not worth the argument.”
