A Vibrant Lakeside Wedding at The Felt Estate in Saugatuck, Michigan

Becca Rosswurm (27 and an organizational consultant) and Tom Nania (27 and a Luthier) met at an Irish pub in Indiana. Becca was in the area attending college and Tom and his band were playing a gig in the pub that night. Although it took them 6 months to get back there, the two had their first date at that same pub. As a tribute to their first trip together, Tom brought Becca for a picnic on a beach along Lake Michigan's western coast. A nervous Tom began fidgeting before they could even start to eat and pulled out the ring to propose. Throughout their relationship, Tom and Becca had named their trips as a series they referred to as "Along the Midcoast". During these travels they came across Leland, Michigan with all of its fresh air and pristine natural beauty and didn't hesitate in setting this as the location for their wedding. Their intimate ceremony took place in a small church surrounded by a dozen of their closest family and friends. The reception, a larger party to celebrate with the rest of their friends and family, was held indoors at The Felt Estate. They decorated in bright cheerful colors, focusing on detailed that represented the bride and groom as individuals. Becca's favorite flower, Icelandic Poppies, filled the historic reception area while guests were treated to Tom's favorite craft beers. To keep from assigning seats and separating their guests, the couple chose a full menu of hors d’oeuvres and a dessert of homemade family cookies. After dinner, friends and family danced to songs they had requested on the RSVP before heading home with bags filled with gladioli bulbs and breakfast boxes for the next morning.

The bride chose bright, cheerful colors in peach, coral and yellows accented with mint. Not only are these her favorite colors, they just so happen to be the colors that her favorite flowers, Icelandic Poppies, bloom in.
Becca's only stipulation was that her dress be danceable, so she wore a flowy embroidered Ivy & Aster gown. The boddess had a versatile matching shrug which easily transformed into straps after the ceremony.
Becca wore mint green shoes to match her bridesmaids. The girls wore knee length mint green dresses in two different styles from the J. Crew wedding line and accessorized with their personal style.
The groom wanted to tie his look into the casual bright feel of the rest of the wedding. He wore a light gray suit and his groomsmen wore dark gray. Their floral ties were handmade by Andrea of Pomp and Ceremony (Etsy) and incorporated the Liberty florals.

Tom and Becca had a very intimate ceremony. There were twelve witnesses total including their wedding party. For them it was a chance to really celebrate their new life together before heading into the party with all of their friends and family.

The groom, a luthier, both plays and builds guitars, so the bride and groom incorporated this into their decor. A ukulele Tom had made was displayed in the dining room of the Felt Mansion.
Tom chose a full menu of hors d’oeuvres to eliminate the need for table assignments. The bride and groom wanted to accommodate all of their guests with a wide array of food including bacon wrapped stuffed dates, mini pulled pork sandwiches, braised short ribs and satay kabobs.
When it came time for late night dancing, the music used was a playlist comprised of the song requests sent in from guests on their RSVPs. The bride and groom had a great time watching people run onto the dance floor when their song came on.
Fun First Dance
Becca and Tom sent their guests home with small pouches filled with gladioli bulbs which, when planted, will return each year. They also sent them home with breakfast boxes for the next morning filled with pastries, coffee, and candied bacon.
The bride and groom had a bright and simple theme so it was only fitting they have a bright and simple cake. The multi-tier unfrosted cake was lightly coated in powdered sugar and accented with light coral and yellow flowers.
