A Vibrant, Laid-Back Fourth of July Wedding at Windy Point Campground in Dillon, Colorado

Lindsay Rader (32 and a florist and waitress) and Jeff Lehmann (33 and a ski patroller and bike-trail builder) planned a festive weekend extravaganza for their Fourth of July wedding in Dillon, Colorado. “Upon moving to Summit County in 2006, Windy Point was one of the first little places we explored on a short, snowy hike,” Lindsay says. “We had been engaged for over a year, and no venues were really fitting our vision for the perfect party. One day, an acquaintance mentioned his own wedding at that location, and it just clicked.”

The couple took full advantage of all the venue had to offer, renting out the campgrounds for the weekend and treating their guests to plenty of fun-filled events, including a Sunday afternoon variety show where friends and family played music, told jokes, Hula-Hooped and performed magic tricks.

Since Lindsay is a florist, she took all the florals into her own hands. She and a team of assistants brought the venue to life with bright red and pink blooms such as proteas, kangaroo paws, garden roses, astilbes and freesias. She and Jeff also called upon their talented friends and family members to help with everything from the stationery to the wedding cake and even the ceremony itself. After exchanging vows in a customized ceremony on the shores of Lake Dillon, the couple whisked their guests off to Windy Point’s lakeside pavilion for a barbecue feast, lots of dancing and Fourth of July fireworks, of course.

A tip from Lindsay: “Make sure your event is well documented. It’s impossible to remember all the details that made it so magical. Even if you don't have a videographer, ask a friend to record your ceremony. We're so grateful that one of ours thought to record ours on her iPhone.”
