A Tropical Hilltop Wedding at Pili Lani Estate in Kula, Maui
Kira Antoku (31 and a real estate agent) was about to delete her OkCupid.com account when Sky Wilson (29 and a web developer) wrote to her. Five years later, the two exchanged vows on a scenic mountaintop in Maui, Hawaii, near where Kira grew up. “Most people think of Hawaii in terms of sand and beaches—my version of Hawaii is a little different since I grew up upcountry, in Kula,” says Kira, who chose the Pili Lani Estate for their intimate ceremony and reception. “It had the most spectacular view of the West Maui Mountains and the valley from South Maui to the North Shore. It had the view of Maui that I have in my mind when I think of home.” After a ceremony officiated by Sky’s sister, Kira and Sky put on a curated playlist and celebrated their union and the epic views with 50 family members and friends. Flowers, food and favors honored the location—from the vibrant blooms from Cloud Flower Protea Farm to fresh maki sushi, mochiko chicken and take-home packages of lima bean manju confections. “Don’t worry about small details,” Kira says. “Know what's important to you and what you want to spend money on; find ways to cut costs in all other areas.” —Carolyn Meers
