Back when they were seniors in high school, Danielle didn’t want to be set up with Chris. Luckily, her friends didn’t listen and introduced them anyway. Six years later, Danielle and Chris were visiting their families for Easter when Chris suggested Danielle hunt for eggs at his parent’s house. He had hidden them all over the yard, including several on top of the tree house where he’d first told Danielle he loved her. Convinced he was about to propose, Danielle was a little disappointed when all the eggs had been found and there was no big surprise. The Bride Danielle Dickson, 26, a graphic designer The Groom Chris Quint, 27, an athletic performance specialist The Date April 25 But then she came upon an Easter basket tucked away by the fireplace. As Danielle opened a heart-shaped box nestled among other Easter goodies, Chris dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The couple chose a vintage theme for their spring wedding and used a chocolate-brown, seafoam-green, and butter-yellow color palette to pull it off.

Danielle and Chris married in a traditional Catholic ceremony with a full mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Though they had both grown up a few hours away, their new home town felt like the right place to get married since it’s “where we plan to put down our roots,” the bride explains.
The bride put her graphic design expertise to work for the wedding, though, she cautions, it was quite the chore! Using a color palette of seafoam, brown, and yellow, she designed all of the paper goods for the wedding, including the invitations, programs, and thank-you cards.
Danielle and Chris’ vintage theme was in full effect at their reception. Some of the bride’s favorite decor elements were the unique, life-size posters of the couple’s parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos which she created to cover the windows while allowing a warm wash of light to enter the room. “We were both very close to our grandparents and we thought this was a good way to sort of have them there as part of our day,” Danielle explains. “We hope to be like them and follow in their footsteps.”
Danielle and Chris began their reception with a German tradition of playing the wedding march, which ended with all of their guests encircling them for their first dance to local folk singer Nikki Moddelmog’s rendition of Edie Brickell’s “Once in a Blue Moon.” After the formal dances, the party got rolling with everything from ’80s to hip-hop to country and even a few polka numbers!
Danielle and Chris had a hard time figuring out what type of wedding cake to have until they spotted a cake on display at a local bakery and realized it was exactly what they wanted. The three-tiered, round cake was covered in ivory buttercream and adorned with a chocolate ribbon around the base of each tier. Vintage-inspired designs with gold dots and sugar flowers made it a perfect match for the couple’s wedding style.
Danielle found choosing the wedding flowers to be one of the tougher aspects of wedding planning, but thanks to her florist’s expert help, the results were beautiful. The bride carried a bouquet of ivory peonies and orchids accented with bear grass.
