A Traditional Timeless Wedding at the Akron Art Museum in Akron, Ohio
Makara Gerber, 22, a business development manager, and Ryan Gerber, 25, a mechanic, first met each other at the church they both attended. Ryan was a worship intern and caught Makara's attention one day while he was onstage during a Sunday service. After dating for about a year, Ryan proposed to Makara with a Victorian style princess cut diamond ring right before she had major knee surgery. The couple chose to have their wedding reception at the Akron Art Museum in Akron, Ohio with the unique vibe they were searching for in a venue. Peacock feathers were the inspiration for the color palette of dark purple and pewter accented with turquoise. The wedding theme was based off of the Victorian era with a modern twist, creating a timeless elegance with subtle touches of candelabras, cabbage roses and sparkling crystals throughout the venue space. However, the couple's favorite part of their wedding was not the materialistic elements, but the atmospheric love of family and friends around them the entire day. "Although I loved immersing myself in the design, decor and detail of the day, there was no detail that was more important to use than being surrounded by our loved ones," says Makara.
