A Traditional Summer Wedding at the Mansion at Turner Hill in Ipswich, Masssachusetts

With less than a year to plan their wedding, the pressure was on for Liz Peirce (27 and a web producer) and Andy Hughson (32 and a landscaper) to find a venue for their summer wedding. Luckily, the Mansion at Turner Hill in Ipswich, Massachusetts, still had one Saturday available during the summer and the couple were instantly smitten with the historic estate’s beautifully manicured lawns, interiors oozing old-world charm and the flexibility to host both the ceremony and reception. From Andy’s traditional morning suit to Liz’s Princess Diana-inspired cascading bouquet and a bright color palette of pink and green, classic elegance with a playful, summery twist was the guiding principle for all the wedding details. To avoid overpowering the locale, Liz and Andy kept the decor understated, looking to flowers and a few colorful add-ons to highlight the beauty of the setting. The ceremony took place on the lawn, which required little embellishment, save for a few eye-catching arrangements of curly willows, hydrangeas and roses. The reception tent at the Mansion at Turner Hill was equally as stunning, the light-filled structure featuring high, fabric-draped ceilings and stately chandeliers. Bright pink linens introduced a splash of color to the room, while a mix of tall and low floral arrangements filled with seasonal blooms played up the wedding’s fresh, summery undertone. A tip from Liz: “It seems silly, but I wish I had decided whom to give our flowers to beforehand. It's something I didn't think of, so I would recommend deciding who will take them, so they don't go to waste.”
