A Simple, Traditional Wedding at Private Residence in Gilbert, Arizona

Kelsi Telford (21 and a nursing student) and KC Toolson (24 and a business student) knew each other for years, but their romance never blossomed until one summer afternoon when they were reunited by mutual friends. Kelsi says something just clicked: “It was as if I had just met my husband for the first time.” KC proposed underneath the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco—it took Kelsi a few seconds to compose herself, but she said yes! They were married in KC’s hometown of Gilbert, Arizona and sealed in the Gilbert, Arizona Temple of the Latter-Day Saints. Their reception in the beautiful backyard of the groom’s parents suited their simple, casual style and desire to keep their party close to home with their friends and family. The bride chose a pink and gold color palette—her favorite colors. “I wanted the wedding to have a springtime, casual feel,” she says. The couple served a taco buffet at their reception to share their favorite food with their guests. For dessert, they provided chocolate chip pazookies with strawberry and double chocolate rum cake and a s’mores station. Halfway through the reception, the couple opened up the dance floor—after the traditional couple’s first dance and the newlyweds dance with their parents, everyone danced and sang along to the classics. “It meant everything to me to be able to spend my wedding day with all of the people who raised me and set great examples for me all my life,” says Kelsi.
