A Whimsical Botanical Garden Wedding at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library in Delaware

After a year-long search for the right venue, Carrie and Shane finally discovered Winterthur. “I have always loved the whimsical atmosphere of botanical gardens,” Carrie says. “It blew me away.” Deep purple, mauve and gray accents paired with candles and frilly florals to bring the pair’s vision of a modern romantic party to life.

To lend a modern touch to the décor, the duo paired bold typographical seating charts with gold accents.

The couple worked with their florist to ensure that the day’s blooms added a whimsical touch. Painted asparagus fern played a big role in the overall design, appearing in the ceremony arch, on the cake and in a show-stopping dance floor installation. 

A tiered vanilla confection catered to the pair’s differing taste preferences—Carrie chose a raspberry filling, while Shane opted for cookies and cream. Moody hues paired with bold florals for a chic suite.
