Wendy and Chris' Kentucky wedding was filled with personal touches and thoughtful gestures. The Bride Wendy Weiselberg, 25, logistics engineer and supply chain analyst The Groom Chris White, 26, logistics engineer and supply chain analyst The Date October 21 Wendy Weiselberg and Chris White met in 1998 -- both were MBA students at Ohio State. A year later, Chris planned to ask Wendy to marry him on the first night of a 14-day trip to Europe. But the moment wasn't right. So off the lovebirds went, touring England, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and finally, France. He waited until the second to last night of the trip, says Wendy. We were ready to enjoy a romantic evening in Paris and Chris was ready to pop the question until we found that all of the restaurants were closed. Once again, Chris felt the moment just wasn't quite right. With little time to spare, the next night, in their hotel room, Chris made three toasts, the last of which included a bona fide marriage proposal. I was so excited that I didn't even look at my ring until about ten minutes after I said 'yes', says Wendy, with a laugh. When Wendy and Chris were planning their wedding, they had lots of ideas -- at school, they worked at planning social events for fellow MBA students. They'd been living in Kentucky for just over a year, and nearly all of their guests would be out-of-towners. We wanted to make them feel welcome, special, and loved, as they were, says the bride. Gift boxes filled with Kentuckian treats greeted arriving guests and a series of events was planned to entertain. On Friday, Wendy and Chris took the bridal party to Keeneland (the race course near Lexington); a rehearsal happy hour was scheduled for Friday evening; and on the morning of the wedding, it was back to Keeneland for more betting and horse-ogling while a bridal luncheon and golf a outing took place at a local country club.
