Kristi and James had no idea that a trip back in time would determine their future. The two met at a 1970s costume party. They hit it off right away and started dating. A month later the couple realized fate was determined to bring them together. James developed some photographs he had taken at another party two weeks before meeting Kristi. It turns out, Kristi was at the very same party and even showed up in the pictures! The couple spent the next 17 months incorporating memories of their engagement trip into an Italian-themed wedding in Denver.

Gold rimmed glasses and dinnerware gave the place settings a touch of old-world Tuscany. Rich burgundy linens topped the tables for a strong contrast against the gold napkins and beaded napkin rings.
Wrought iron pedestals were topped with candle in varying heights and decorated with red roses and real grapes. Custom-designed chalkboard menus added a playful touch to the tables cape.
Bubble Wedding Exit
Kristi and James chose Denver’s oldest church for its stunning gothic architecture, so they kept it in its natural state and didn’t use any decorations.
The bridesmaids’ strapless tea-length gowns matched the deep berry color in the wedding details. Three repeated layers of chiffon, charmeuse and lace lent to the romantic feel of the day.
Red Reception Table
Kristi slipped her feet into silk peep-toe pumps adorned with bands of Swarovski crystals.
Kristi and James shared their first dance to a live acoustic version of the Oasis song, “Wonderwall,” a tune they’ve always loved.
To reflect the couple’s theme, they had a grapevine motif created for the ceremony program and other wedding stationery. A satin berry ribbon tied the program together.
Rather than using traditional escort cards, the couple continued their Italian cafe theme, hiring a calligrapher to map out the seating arrangement on a large chalkboard.
For a romantic autumn look, Kristi carried a bouquet of burnt orange calla lilies, deep red dahlias, roses and oncidium orchids with rosemary accents.
A giant projector featuring looped video of falling leaves helped fill the dramatic space within the Cable Center’s mezzanine. Soft up-lighting and four full-sized trees decorated in flickering votives cast a warm glow.
The couple had fun picking out the red and gold goodies for their candy buffet. They presented the sweets in various glass canisters and even gave guests little gold to-go boxes.
A chocolate version of the couple’s grapevine motif topped their three-tiered cake. Fondant and sugar leaves in shades of berry and gold added three-dimensional texture to the confection.
