Vintage Tea Party Wedding at Hazlehurst House in McDonough, Georgia

Emily Bostwick (22 and a registered nurse) and Michael Underwood (28 and a construction manager) became best friends after meeting at church. One unexpected kiss changed everything and Michael proposed a few months after Emily finished nursing school. The couple wanted a short engagement but more importantly, a space that would allow them to have an indoor, vintage-inspired affair. Hazlehurst House in McDonough, Georgia offered the perfect opulent space that complemented their champagne and gold color scheme and needed minimal additional decor. Emily's idea for a vintage tea party theme came from her grandmothers. "There's nothing more elegant than my grandmothers to me," says Emily. "My Mimi just has this way about her that makes you want to sip hot tea from a gold tea cup and wear pearls!" Pearl accents were carried through from the bridesmaid bouquets to the understated vintage centerpieces. Each table was decorated with a different array of old books or antique tea pots and cups that belonged to the bride's grandmothers and close family friends. Despite all of the sentimental touches, the most meaningful moment was when Emily changed into her mother's ivory lace going away dress. "It was such an honor getting to wear her outfit!" says Emily.
