When Jacob (24, law enforcement officer) and Christy (23, firefighter) planned their DIY wedding on a budget, the results were stunning. Jacob and Christy had a romantic and personal day, with a lot of help from family and friends. Right down to the vegetables that Christy grew for the reception dinner side dishes, she planned meticulously a charming and homespun dream wedding with authentic Texas flair set on the rolling hills of Christy's grandmother's farmland.

The bride bought a strapless dress and customized a bolero to create her long sleeve lace dress. Christy loves vintage, and with a little help and creativity, the dress of her dreams also fit into her budget.
A local lady made the wedding cake along with a variety of cupcake flavors for the reception. White and purple ranunculus flowers cascade down the ruffled white tiers of the cake.
The bride and groom's wedding rings rested on a white pillow and tied with an ivory ribbon. The two different styles reflected the couple's appreciation of whimsical and vintage.
The groom wore a gray suit with a royal purple tie and matching handkerchief. His boutonniere matched the bridal bouquet's deep purple and whites.
The wedding flowers, a mix of deep purples and whites with ivy vines, stood out against the pale outdoor background.
To symbolize the union of the bride and groom, they each poured a vial of sand into one larger vial.
The bridal bouquet blended the gold of the surrounding fields with a mix of ivory and white flowers to tie the rustic look.
"Everything we used in our wedding was something we've had forever or bought from garage sales," said the bride. The couple utilized old windows, buckets and doors to create a rustic arch.
Christy is a firefighter, so she used an antique fire truck in her bridal portraits that was graciously loaned by the Bremond Fire Department. The groom, Jacob, is a law enforcement officer, so Christy rode to the ceremony in a police vehicle with lights and sirens blaring.
The couple exchanged their vows under a rustic wooden arbor covered in vines and hanging purple flowers. The preacher, a close family friend, officiated the ceremony.
The bridesmaids wore long, one-strap dresses in a deep purple, and carried purple and white bouquets.
The couple linked arms as they exited their ceremony together as husband and wife.
Christy and Jacob stand together in her grandmother's field. For jewelry, Christy wore old vintage gold and pearls from her father.
The couple chose to be married in an open hayfield under a tree on the bride's grandmother's land, which they call "The Old Farm." "It has these beautiful, breathtaking hills and overall pretty scenery. This place has been in my family for years," says the bride. "I've always known that's where I wanted to get married."
Christy and Jacob made jars of homemade grape jelly to give to their guests as favors. Each label read "Spread the Love."
