One Couple's Rainbow-Hued Backyard Wedding in Denver, Colorado

As a pair, Bryn and Chelsey always bring the fun. Case in point: their wedding. After Chelsey proposed with a ring box made of LEGOs in a comic book store, the couple set out to bring their visions of a bright celebration to life. “We wanted color, movement, and modern arts and crafts,” Chelsey says. The pair chose Chelsey’s parents’ house for its vibrant, flower-filled garden, but added their own spin to the space with quirky signage, confetti and an upbeat, Robyn-heavy playlist. 

What Bryn calls a “totally ’90s” bow tie completed her blue two-piece suit, while a bright floral hairpiece and pink mules added some color to Chelsey’s look.

Among their many DIY projects, Bryn and Chelsey cut all of their signage out of cedar and peg boards, topping the wood with fun phrases in bold marquee lettering.  The couple found stationery and day-of paper inspiration in an unexpected place: GQ Magazine. “I picked up an issue of the 2019 spring fashion issue and felt inspired,” Bryn says. “We ended up sketching ideas on a scrap pad.” Though Bryn and Chelsey enlisted a designer for their invites, the pair took on creating their menus using Photoshop.

Bryn and Chelsey used their year-long engagement to make their own eye-catching, large-scale streamer installation, weaving the piece out of plastic tablecloths. “We spent every lazy day streamer-ing away,” Bryn says. “In the end, our work totaled 300 feet long.”  Guests grabbed glasses of the Homojito, Bryn and Chelsey’s mojito creation. The pair enlisted an assembly line of friends to peel peaches and pick mint leaves for the drink.
