Valerie & Bob: A Traditional Wedding in St. Louis, MO
A last minute mishap ended in the perfect proposal for Valerie and Bob, who met while studying architecture at the University of Kansas. Although they didn't start spending time together until the end of their third year, they avoided the summer slump by getting to hang out in St. Louis where they both grew up. The Bride Valerie Cantrell, 26, architect The Groom Bob Korte, 25, architect The Date September 5 Two years later, they bought a house together in the very same city. Bob originally planned to leave an engagement ring on the keychain to the house so Valerie would see it, but the night before the closing, he wasn’t able to get the key. Valerie was so upset, not because of the missed proposal (which she didn’t know about!), but because she had been looking forward to painting the walls! To cheer her up over the painting disappointment, Bob took Valerie to a local park for a picnic where he popped the question. Needless to say, Valerie forgot about the plain white walls for the rest of the day! For their wedding, the couple embraced the vintage charm of The Old Post Office (the venue for the entire affair) going so far as to arrive at the reception in a trolley from the 1904 World Fair!
