This Couple Took Pictures All Over Manhattan for Their New York City Microwedding
To celebrate their marriage Nicole and Godfrey had an intimate rooftop microwedding in downtown Manhattan with just 20 guests in attendance. Following their vow exchange, Nicole and Godrey explored Manhattan to snap pictures together before dinner at Boucherie in the West Village to cap off the celebration. "Our wedding was put together pretty quickly—4 weeks," explains Nicole. "The decision came after our family was fully vaccinated and we felt the time was right. While we were limited on a lot of wedding choices a bride dreams of, I envisioned a classy New York City-themed elopement, which came out perfect! We incorporated a traditional Chinese/Vietnamese tea ceremony symbolizing the unification of our families."
Looking back on the wedding day, Nicole shares that "some of my favorite moments were the sun shining through a rainy morning during our ceremony, walking through NYC with our photographer as the city was ‘recovering’ from COVID fatigue with people clapping and cheering for us, sharing our favorite meal (Boucherie West Village) with our guest list of 20, and dancing and singing the night away in the penthouse. During dinner, it was so special to look around and see everyone enjoy themselves. Due to COVID and limited vaccines, we were not able to gather together and see one another for quite some time. I was very hesitant to do an elopement (I was the girl that dreamed of a big wedding), but at that moment I knew I had made the right decision."
To other to-be-weds in the throes of wedding planning, Nicole's advice is this: "I say this now that it's all over (and I should have taken my own advice), HAVE FUN! Let go and let God. This is a moment in your life that you will remember forever. You won’t remember the flower delivery was late or the color of your menu you and your partner fought over. You will remember looking at your partner and seeing your lives unfold in the most beautiful way you could have ever imagined."
