Tropical Vibes Filled This Wedding at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture in New York
When it came to tropical wedding destinations, Danielle and Doreen looked no further than Park Slope. “Though we’d considered a destination wedding, we chose a venue 15 minutes from home,” Danielle says. “We picked the Brooklyn Society of Ethical Culture because it has a strong social mission as well as a garden space.” To transport their guests to paradise, the couple decorated the space with orange and pink silk flowers, 1970s-inspired neon signage and pineapple cup favors for everyone to sip rum punch. Danielle and Doreen carried bright mixes of tropical greenery and ginger flowers. Doreen has been a major fan of Al Green since she was a teenager, so it was only fitting for the newlyweds to start the ’70s-inspired party with “Let’s Stay Together.” “Al’s voice is so smooth and the tempo is just right for grooving,” Doreen says. Between dances, guests showed off their competitive sides over rounds of croquet. Miniature pineapples, woven lanterns and, of course, silk monstera leaves topped cheerful pink tablecloths at the reception. After the celebration, the pair jetted off to their next destination: Andalusia, Spain.
