When friends of Beverly Ogbeide (28, women’s service nurse) told Tosan Mene-Ejegi (35, business owner) he needed to meet the Beyonce of their group of friends (affectionately named Destiny’s Child), Tosan was eager to meet the Nigerian Beyonce. When the two finally met, Tosan instantly developed a crush and a friendship with Beverly. As time passed, Tosan fell in love with Beverly and her family, and eventually mustered the courage to ask her out on an official date. On their first date, Tosan told Beverly that he would marry her, to which she responded “Yeah right!” Two years later, the two became engaged in the Houston CityCentre where they eventually hosted their luxurious wedding reception at the Red Oak Ballroom. Their luxurious, formal wedding took place in a linen-draped ballroom decorated with crystal chandeliers, gold-beaded glass chargers, tall trumpet vases for elegant blush and ivory floral arrangements and candles to add to the formal ambience. Beverly wore a Cinderella-inspired ball gown for the ceremony, but changed into traditional Nigerian Asoke for part of the reception. The cake was a stunning five-tiers with detailed, delicate decorations in fondant and sugar appliques that perfectly embodied the glitz and glam of the event. The wedding was romantic, upscale and a grand welcome to Houston for all of the couple’s friends and family who traveled internationally to attend the big day.

African Bride in Tulle Ball Gown
Beverly's ceremony dress was an ivory irregular tiered tulle strapless ball gown with a crystal-embroidered bodice. "As a little girl, my favorite Disney movie was Cinderella, so that was my inspiration," says Beverly.
Beverly wore her hair in a deep side part with long flowing wand curls. She had dark, smoky eyes but kept the rest of her makeup natural. "The look I was going for was very feminine, romantic yet sexy," says Beverly.

The couple chose the Red Oak Ballroom because it is located in the heart of the Houston CityCentre where they got engaged. "We felt that it was the perfect place to wow our guests from out of the country because of the upscale feel and ability to hold up to 500 guests," says Beverly.
Beverly and Tosan's reception felt romantic, intimate and luxurious with linen-draped walls, a plethora of tall blush and ivory floral arrangements, candles, gold Chiavari chairs and crystal chandeliers.
Tall Round Blush and Ivory Floral Arrangements
The wedding cake was a five-tier round cake finished with rolled fondant, delicate sugar applique work and stunning gold accents with fresh flowers on top.
Each bridesmaid wore the same blush mermaid-style one-shoulder gown with unique hair and accessories for a uniform, formal fashion.
"On your wedding day, take a deep breath, sit back, soak in every moment and have the best time you can," says Beverly. "Feeling peaceful on my wedding day helped me enjoy every moment of the best day of my life."
