Claire and Ian had a few parameters for their venue. “We knew that we wanted somewhere without noise ordinances and where we could put our own stamp on the place,” Claire says. Spruce Mountain Ranch checked off all boxes. What Claire calls a “whimsical woodland” theme took shape, made possible with flowers galore. After marrying under an altar decorated with proteas, andromeda, thistles, delphiniums and roses, the two joined their guests for cocktails in the courtyard, then dinner and lots of dancing. Steel hoops covered in eucalyptus and smilax lined the aisle that led to the open-air altar. The couple’s signature shade, “dusty blue,” inspired the color of their linens, lace chargers and lounge furniture. A trio of mercury glass lanterns covered in thistles, greenery, delphiniums and spray roses hung above the reception space. “We wanted our guests to feel transplanted,” Claire says of bringing the outdoors inside. After Claire and Ian’s dance, everyone jumped up to groove to a 13-piece band. The night wrapped with a DJ set and grilled cheese and pizza. Their fondant cake with a geode design combined vanilla with strawberry and raspberry, coconut with coconut mousse and honey lavender with honey mascarpone.
